North Korea says it will support Russia until “victory”

North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui is in Moscow to meet with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.

North Korea will support Russia until “victory” in Ukraine, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui stated this Friday, November 1, at the beginning of a meeting in Moscow with her Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.

The meeting between the two heads of diplomacy takes place at a time when Ukraine and the West have denounced the Deployment of thousands of North Korean soldiers to the front lines.considering that this is a dangerous “escalation” of the conflict.

There is no doubt that under the wise leadership of the eminent Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Russian army and people will achieve a great victory. […] We reaffirm that we will always firmly support our Russian comrades until the day of victory,” Choe Son Hui said, according to a Russian translation of his remarks, during a meeting with Lavrov.

“Very close contacts were established between the military and security services of the two countries. This allows us to resolve important issues for the security of our citizens and yours,” stated the head of Russian diplomacy.

Lavrov thanked North Korea for Pyongyang’s position on the conflict in Ukraine and highlighted the unprecedented high level of bilateral relations.

“We are deeply grateful to our North Korean friends for their principled position regarding the events in Ukraine,” said the head of Russian diplomacy during the meeting, the beginning of which was broadcast live on the Russian Foreign Ministry portal.

The two countries signed a “global strategic partnership treaty,” which provides for “immediate military assistance” in the event of armed aggression by third countries.

The Ukrainian military has controlled several hundred square kilometers of Russian territory since its surprise offensive in the Kursk region in early August.

On Thursday, citing US intelligence, the head of US diplomacy, Antony Blinken, stated that of the 10,000 North Korean soldiers who, according to Washington, entered Russia, around 8,000 “were placed in the Kursk region.”

“We have not seen these troops yet [norte-coreanas] in combat against Ukrainian forces, but we anticipate this will happen in the coming days,” Blinken added.

Following approval by deputies last week, the Russian Federation Council is expected to vote on the ratification of the strategic agreement between the two countries on the 6th of this month.

The meeting between Choe Son Hui Sergei Lavrov takes place a few days before the US presidential elections, at a time when North Korea is increasing tensions with the launch of an intercontinental missile with the declared objective of strengthening its nuclear deterrent capacity. Choe Son Hui also stated that Pyongyang “will strengthen its nuclear arsenal.”
