A gunman targeted a local Chicago newsgroup while live-reporting on Wednesday chronic gun violence in Chicago led by Democratic Mayor Laurie Lightfoot.
The disturbing incident, reported by the Fox 32 crew, occurred at approximately 7:00 am at the intersection of West Clark Street and North Hubbard Street on the River North, the channel reported. The team covered gun violence in the Windy City on the radio station’s show. Good day Chicago.
The video for this episode shows a man walking towards the footage behind reporter Joanie Lam, pointing a gun at the team, then jumping into the street and lifting it into the air.
“Police are currently naming this person as the person charged with aggravated gun charge,” the Fox 32 article said.

He is still on the run, and anyone with information about his whereabouts or identity is encouraged to contact the Chicago Police Department, Fox 32 reported.
“Thank you to viewers who watched Good Day Chicago and called or emailed us to make sure our crew was okay,” Fox 32 said.
The incident occurred at a time when gun violence was rampant in Lightfoot city.
Nine people were shot in Chicago on Wednesday alone, one of whom was injured, according to Fox 32. Twenty-one shots were taken between Friday and Sunday morning. Last weekend, 33 people were shot, five of whom died.
According to Chicago Police Department crime statistics, 219 people died in Chicago between January 1 and May 22, an alarming increase over pre-pandemic numbers. This figure is 26 percent more than the same period of 2019 and 13 percent more than the same period of 2018. The 219 murders also increased by 14 percent compared to the figures in 2020, albeit less than last year. At a rate that resulted in 240 deaths by May 22.
