MSNBC columnist Claire McCaskill spoke out Wednesday against “high-capacity” gun stores in the United States.
McCaskill told Morning Joe: “[h]High-capacity magazines are easy to use if you want to stab students sitting in their desks.” “You don’t need to fire 70 rounds,” he said, in case the house was destroyed.
“Let’s talk about high-capacity stores. Let’s focus on the type of gun and those magazines that are for one purpose only, Joe and you’ve talked about it over and over, that’s quick killing of people. Kill people fast,” McCaskill said. “Now you don’t need to fire 70 shots if you have an intruder. Snipers fire 70 rounds if they want slaughter. High-capacity magazines are super easy to use if you want to kill students sitting at their desks.
“Listen, I want to say to all my former colleagues – you can speak up against the NRA and live to talk about it,” he added. “I won many elections with an F for the NRA in Missouri, which is not a liberal territory. It has the letter “F” from the NRA. You can do this because most Americans want to stop this madness. And I think the Democrats are right now. They need to hunt defensive weapons, those powerful, powerful rifles, and most of all, your high-capacity magazines. There is no reason why any athlete should need a high-capacity magazine to shoot deer, wild boar or wild boar.
