CNN presenter Brian Stelter said Sunday in Trusted Sources that the ongoing federal investigation into President Joe Biden’s son Hunter shows “it’s not just a right-wing media story.”
Stelter added that Hunter’s legal peril could jeopardize his father’s chances of being reelected in 2024.
Stelter said: “Maureen Dowd’s column in the New York Times this morning is basically saying that Joe Biden should not run for reelection. It’s been a story for months and it’s getting louder, including some Democrat lawmakers who say Biden should hang up and say he’s a lame duck and won’t run away in 2024. Former aide to the White House?
Michael LaRosa, former First Lady Jill Biden press secretary, said: “I hope he runs. I know he will. He plans to run, as he has said many times.
“Biden is different in age,” Stelter asked.
“I don’t understand why you didn’t run,” LaRosa said. I’ve never heard of why.”
“What about his son, what about Hunter? Hunter is under federal investigation and can be charged at any time. This is not just a right-wing media story. This is a real problem for Bidens. Could he decide not to run for a second term given to his son?”
“Look, they make family decisions, and they’re going to make that decision when the time comes,” LaRosa said.
Stelter said, “Do you think they talked about it?” she asked.
LaRosa said, “No. The president does his job and does his job. He wasn’t focused on that. It’s been 19 months! Why would he do that?
