What does your sleep pattern say about your personality traits?

An expert has discovered that our sleep routine can say a lot about us when it comes to our personality. “Tell me how you sleep and I’ll tell you who you are!”

A person’s tendency to sleep late at night is called a ‘night owl’ while a person who usually wakes up early in the morning and goes to bed early at night is called an ‘early bird’.

Dr Claire Stone explained in a MattressNextDay study: “Night types often don’t fit into the social structure of our daily workdays because their circadian rhythms don’t fit our usual 9 -5 hours.” Because of the busy evening hours, they may have more room to think creatively and be “willing to step outside the lines,” he said.

“Night owl species are more likely to show higher extraversion (a personality trait), meaning they tend to be more extroverted and friendly.”

He added that this explains why so many people fall into this category.

Clinical hypnotherapist Tamsin Isgrove adds that night owls are often more open to experimentation and seem more flexible.

He continued, “Because they don’t worry about going to bed at a certain time. I think that makes them more creative.”

But if you’re not a night owl, you’re probably a morning person. That means you’re ready to go as soon as the alarm goes off.

Tamsin explains that in general “early birds” tend to be happier, healthier and more productive in general.

said Dr. Stone says it is possible for these people to have personality traits that are suitable for the demands of everyday working life.

“Morning people are more likely to gather their information from concrete and factual sources. This means they are more confident about direct experience and what they can observe objectively, and more analytical in their thinking,” he explains.

“These features are said to be mainly due to the circadian rhythm of early birds, which is well suited to the timing requirements typical of daily working life,” he added.

The data also revealed that the most successful celebrities were hybrids of night owls and morning owls.

For example, American billionaire Elon Musk has such a sleeping pattern that he sleeps for 6-7 hours most nights and then wakes up at 7 am to answer emails.

It is also said that Bill Gates follows a similar sleep pattern as he wakes up at 7 am.
