Barrel
Rua de São Miguel, 25. Tel.: 911 551 639. From Tuesday to Saturday, from 7 pm to 12 midnight. Tasting menu, from €50.
For a surprise dinner: With capacity for 30 people, Barrica works in its own way: the menu is delivered to the customer inside a paper envelope, and he can choose to open it or not. Developed by chef Bruno de Jesus, a new restaurant in the center of Porto has a single tasting menu, which varies and consists of six moments: tapa, amuse-bouche, starter, fish, meat and dessert. What can be said is that, living in the historic center of the northern city (in an old stone basement clad in wood), it intends to be, through contemporary cuisine, a representative of the gastronomy of the region, awakening the childhood memories of those who grew up there. From YoursPorto it shares the outdoor space with the local accommodation Pipa d’Ouro, from the same group, which includes a garden, swimming pool and views of the D. Luís bridge.

So you don’t get lost, we have two suggestions: the Dassai 23 (€190/72 cl), premium sake and one of the best currently produced in the world, it has 23% rice polishing, which makes it the most “polished” from Japan, which has a light, slightly fruity and acid taste; and Heaven (€180/72 cl), a luxury drink, the result of a French-Japanese collaboration, marked by a light and smooth fruity fragrance.
