The German newspaper Tagesspiegel reported that “Germany’s Administrative Court has banned five Palestinian demonstrations, arguing that they pose a risk of inflammatory or anti-Semitic appeals and acts of violence.”

For its part, the civil organization Palestine Speaks “strongly” criticized the ban on its demonstrations, describing the ruling as an “attack on the basic rights to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression.”

“The Berlin police’s ban on memorial events restricts Palestinians in Germany and deprives them of their basic rights, and raises concern on several levels in accordance with the standards of a constitutional democratic state,” the organization said in a statement. .

He explained that “the commemoration of the Nakba is an important way for Palestinians in Germany to remember the injustice suffered by our ancestors and take a stand for the human rights of Palestinians everywhere.”

Palestinians commemorate Nakba Day on May 15 each year, to commemorate the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in 1948.
