The French Presidency said that “President Emmanuel Macron will travel to Abu Dhabi to express his condolences on the death of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.”

In turn, the Egyptian presidency announced that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will meet with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and express condolences to him on the departure of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.

The Omani News Agency also reported, “Sultan Haytham bin Tariq traveled to the Emirates to express his condolences on the death of Sheikh Khalifa.”

The UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs mourned “for the people of the country, the Arab and Islamic peoples and the world in general, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the country.”

In this context, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs announced: “Official mourning and flags at half-mast over Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for a period of 40 days, starting today, and a suspension of work in ministries, departments, federal and local agencies and the private sector for 3 days, starting today.”

Khalifa is the second President of the Emirates and the sixteenth Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the largest of the seven emirates that make up the federation, and the Supreme Commander of the country’s armed forces.
