ROME — Supreme Archbishop of Ukraine Svyatoslav Shevchuk condemned Russia’s continued offensive on Saturday and prayed for God to give Ukraine victory.
Archbishop Shevchuk said in a video message that the Ukrainian people “completely rejected the offensive of the unjustly aggressive Russian army, which for 80 days destroyed and killed our people, trampled on the territory of Ukraine.”
“The enemy is not laying down his weapons,” he continued. “The enemy is actively and comprehensively attacking, at least trying to completely seize the territory of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, the Kherson region. The opponent wants to meet in Zaporozhye. ”
“But Ukraine is standing. Ukraine is at war. And we sincerely feel that the Lord God has blessed our just war, ”Shevchuk said.
He added, “May the Lord God grant Ukraine step by step victory over evil, victory over the unjust invader.”

The archbishop also delivered the “good news” that Ukraine has successfully defended Kharkiv, as well as Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, and even Slobozhanshchyna, “a place that really is a historic Ukraine on the border of the Russian Federation.”
“Today we are grateful to all the defenders of Kharkov and to all those who gave their lives for the independence of this ancient Ukrainian great city,” he said.
Now we ask: Lord, protect Ukraine! O Lord, change those who kill us now! ” He called. “Lord, abandon the sin of all those who have evil plans that are the cause of the plague of war in the modern world today!”
“God bless the Ukrainian army that will stop the sinful aggressor!” prayed. “May God bless the children of Ukraine, turn us all from sin and give us true freedom, the freedom to do good!”
