“(North Korea) sends thousands of highly skilled IT workers around the world to generate revenue contributing to weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs that violate U.S. and UN sanctions , ”Said the alert.
“These IT people are using the current need for specific IT skills, such as software and mobile app development, to provide independent employment contracts from customers around the world,” he added.
Reports show that North Korea is increasingly relying on hackers to steal and launder virtual currencies to fund its weapons programs.
The warning said North Korean IT workers hired “typically engage in IT jobs other than malicious cyber activity” but could use the access they gained as contractors to activate malicious attack by North Korea.
