EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell described the situation in Libya as “extremely worrying”, noting that “in recent hours the situation has become very sad … because there were no elections in Libya.
He added: “Instead of holding elections to form one government, they have two governments in Libya,” noting that the two governments were expected to clash “sooner or later,” stressing that “we are monitoring the situation in Libya.” which was “relatively quiet for a few months and is now starting up again”. War… It will be necessary to look at the situation there. This is very disturbing.”
Borrell’s statement comes amid clashes that erupted in the center of the capital Tripoli over a conflict over legitimacy between two parallel executive bodies, a government of (national unity) led by Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba and a (stability) government elected by the House of Representatives led by Fathi Bashaga.
