The official Israeli radio station Kan reported that three Palestinian youths infiltrated the Israeli army’s Rama camp near the Qalandiya military checkpoint and “roamed freely for two hours” while dozens of soldiers and female soldiers in the army and the border guards were in a deep sleep.

It was reported on the radio that three young men were unarmed and entered the barracks after cutting the fence, so that none of the occupying soldiers noticed this. It is likely that they intended to steal ammunition and military equipment, and a female soldier accidentally discovered their presence near the sleep of female soldiers in the barracks, at about five in the morning, and began to scream, which prompted the young men to run away so that the soldiers could not to arrest. The occupying forces conducted an extensive search for the three youths in the nearby village of Jaba and other Palestinian towns in the area.
It is noteworthy that this barracks houses a border police battalion and an Israeli army company, and several operations have been carried out by the Palestinians in the past. An Israeli army officer called this barracks “the most flammable in the whole area.”

Commenting on the incident, the Israeli police said: “A preliminary investigation showed that shortly after the suspects entered the barracks, a female border police soldier saw one of the suspects start running towards a nearby village. The border police are taking this incident seriously. She added: “Immediately after this incident, the commander of the border troops ordered a comprehensive investigation, including on the forms of security and protection of the barracks. In parallel, an operation is being carried out with the participation of all law enforcement agencies to detain the suspects.”
Radio war correspondent Karmila Menashe said that the stay of three Palestinians in the camp for two hours will inevitably lead to the overthrow of the officials in the army camp, since it is a camp used to store a large amount of ammunition and soldiers and women soldiers serving in the army sleep this area.
The right-wing newspaper Israel Hayom confirmed that the operation was a “dangerous corrupt negligence”. She stated that “it was only by chance that the incident did not end in a major terrorist operation that resulted in numerous casualties.”
