“The government of the (ruling party) New Democracy has tirelessly continued to seriously involve Greece in the conflict in Ukraine, this time by sending armored vehicles,” the TASS news agency reported, citing a statement by the Greek Communist Party. He noted that the country learned about the planned supplies not from Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, but from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

The party explained: “For this reason, the government and the relevant Ministry of Defense should immediately provide clarifications regarding the content of this decision and the details of the Greco-German agreement.” Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that agreements had been reached with the Greek authorities on the supply of Soviet-made tanks to Kyiv as part of the so-called circular exchange. Greek government spokesman Ioannis Economou reportedly said in April that Greece would no longer send military equipment to Ukraine.
