To mark the start of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, a new portrait of Elizabeth II has been published. The image was captured at Windsor Castle on May 25 by Ranald Mackechnie.
The photograph was published this Wednesday night on the Instagram account of the royal house. The image’s caption reads Her Majesty’s message: “Thank you to all who have been involved in bringing together communities, families, neighbors and friends to mark my Platinum Jubilee, in the UK and across the Commonwealth” .
The message, signed by Elizabeth R, continues: “I know many happy memories will be made on this festive occasion. I continue to be inspired by the goodwill you have shown me and I hope that the coming days will provide an opportunity to reflect on all that has been achieved over the last seventy years, as we look to the future with confidence and enthusiasm.”
Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee is celebrated over four days, between June 2-5, across the UK. From the Trooping the Color military parade on Thursday morning to the concert on Saturday night, there is an extensive program of celebrations throughout this weekend.
February 6 marked the 70th anniversary of Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne and a portrait of the queen was also presented on the occasion.
