Aquaman star Amber Heard said on Thursday that she would challenge the decision of a grand jury that accused her of defaming Johnny Depp to his ex-wife.
A seven-member jury in Virginia on Wednesday ruled that Heard had defamed “Pirates of the Caribbean” star and paid him $ 10.35 million in damages.
The jury also ruled that Amber Heard was notorious and offered her a $ 2 million reward, according to Reuters.
Dean’s team “was able to disprove much of the evidence that Depp lost in a defamation case in Britain,” Helen’s lawyer, Ellen Charlson Bradhaft, told NBC Today.
Johnny Depp has sued the British newspaper The Sun, describing him as a “wife of abuse”.
Bridhaft said a London High Court judge ruled that Depp had insulted Hurd at least 12 times, but Hurd’s lawyer was not allowed to tell the jury about the Virginia case.
“So what did Depp’s learn from this? Amber’s demonization and rejection of evidence,” Bridhaft added.
“He is portrayed here as a demon. There were a number of things in this court that should not have been allowed, and they confused the jury,” Bridhoft said.
Depp said during the trial that he did not beat or rape Hurd, arguing that it was he who had been violent during their relationship.
Hurd said he slapped Depp just to defend himself or his sister.
