Turkish newspaper Yeni Şafak reported that Ankara has set 10 conditions for Sweden and Finland to lift their veto against their NATO membership. The two countries submitted a May 18 request to the NATO Secretary General to join the alliance, while Turkey prevented the start of a review of membership procedures as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara could not agree to membership. Finland and Sweden because they do not believe their claims about their ties to the PKK, which is banned in Turkey.

The newspaper indicated that the necessary conditions were collected in 10 points as Turkey asked the two countries to “support Ankara in its war against the PKK, which is banned in Turkey, and against the Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen’s organization.” and all those associated with any organization.” It was also stated that Sweden and Finland, as countries “supporting these terrorist organizations”, should establish the necessary legal regulations and legal infrastructure to combat terrorism. It was emphasized that attempts to open PKK offices in their countries should be stopped, and it was proposed to “prevent Gülen’s terrorist activities in these countries, as well as close organizations related to it on the Internet and in the media.”
