German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach stressed during his visit to the western Ukrainian city of Lviv that Ukraine “needs humanitarian assistance as urgently as it needs our military support.”

Lauterbach pledged, according to a statement from the German health ministry, “to support the care of the seriously wounded as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war.”

In Lviv, Lauterbach intends to take part in a donors’ conference on the creation of a rehabilitation center for war invalids.
