Brazilian Bolsonaro Continues Biden’s Encounter in Debate Over Hulk Actor Mark Raffles

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro mocked Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo and insulted his intelligence in response to Ruffalo’s accusation that Bolsonaro had threatened a “coup” in his home country.

Bolsonaro, who named the actor “Mark Raffles”, tweeted that Ruffalo needed to “calm down” in response to Ruffalo’s intensifying protests in Los Angeles against the arrival of Brazil’s conservative president. Bolsonaro flew into the city on Thursday to attend the Summit of the Americas and his first private summit with President Joe Biden.

This meeting, as Bolsonaro later said, was “extraordinary, better than the meeting. [he] expected. ” On Thursday, Bolsonaro and Biden made candid, though inappropriate, comments about cooperation on food security, environmental policy and promoting democracy around the world.

Before the meeting, Ruffalo tweeted, urging Biden to oppose Bolsonaro.

“The person you are facing today has no respect for democracy and continues to threaten a coup,” said Ruffalo. “Remember to be on the side of democracy when the 1/6 hearing starts.”

Bolsonaro was elected in a generally recognized legitimate election in October 2018, shortly after a socialist attempted to stab him at a campaign rally, leaving him with long-term health problems. Ruffalo did not detail what Bolsonaro said or did to hurt him, and did not give any examples of Bolsonaro threatening a “coup.”

Bolsonaro responded in a broad thread in which he told “Mark Raffles” to “calm him down”. [sic]and made fun of for her acting in Hulk movies.

“Records show that my government has always stood by democracy and the Constitution,” Bolsonaro said. continuity. “The Brazilian left (your masters) wants to control the press, restrict freedom of expression, censor the internet and financially support dictatorships like Cuba and Venezuela. [sic]Not me.”

Bolsonaro likened Ruffalo to comic book villain Thanos and described the original Hulk Lou Ferrigno as “cooler.”

Ruffalo appears to be participating in a decade-long campaign against Bolsonaro by the Hollywood elite and Europe’s left-wing leaders, led primarily by actor Leonardo DiCaprio and French President Emmanuel Macron. In 2019, payers and other celebrities like Madonna began posting photos of a fire they claimed to have started in the Amazon rainforest at the time on social media, accusing Bolsonaro of failing to act to protect an ecological treasure. It was later revealed that the photos shared by DiCaprio and Macron had nothing to do with Bolsonaro. The most viral photo was not dated, but was taken by a photographer who died in 2003 when leftist Luis Inácio Lula da Silva was president.

Lula is currently running against Bolsonaro in the 2022 presidential election, despite being convicted of stealing taxpayer dollars.

At the time, Bolsonaro denounced criticism of the rainforest and accused Macron of colonialism, especially in his annual speech to the United Nations General Assembly.

Bolsonaro also personally accused DiCaprio of “facilitating the burning of Amazon” by funding nonprofits he claims were deliberately burned to impeach Bolsonaro’s presidency.

“In the past, the United Nations has played an important role in overcoming colonialism. Bolsonaro told the UN that this mentality should not be allowed to return to its halls under any circumstances. France and Germany use more than 50 percent of their land for agriculture. By contrast, Brazil uses no more than 8 percent. 61 percent of our land has been saved.”

DiCaprio continued his campaign against Bolsonaro, even though he is a Brazilian citizen and has no clear ties to the country. This year, DiCaprio encouraged young people to register to vote in the 2022 election, obviously aimed at encouraging votes against the conservative president. After meeting with DiCaprio and Brazilian pop star Anitta, the latter posted on social networks a message attacking Bolsonaro.

“I’m glad you’re talking to Hollywood actress Anitta, it’s every young man’s dream,” Bolsonaro replied on Twitter, asking Anitta to encourage DiCaprio to “give up his planes and yachts.”

Pressure from Ruffalo and others did not motivate Biden to attack Bolsonaro at Thursday’s bilateral talks. On the contrary, according to Bolsonaro, the meeting was “extraordinary, better than I expected”.

“Yes, there is a lot of interest in Brazil from the US, and rightfully so. . About the Sphere.

In the public part of the meeting, Biden praised Brazil for its environmental policies, despite complaints from Ruffalo, DiCaprio and others.

“As a nation, you’ve made some real sacrifices in trying to protect the Amazon, the world’s largest carbon sink,” said Biden Bolsonaro. “And I think the rest of the world should help you fund as much savings opportunity as possible. It’s like an international responsibility because we all benefit from it.”

In 2020, before becoming president, Biden threatened in a presidential debate to destroy Brazil’s economy if Bolsonaro didn’t receive $20 billion to “stop deforestation.” Biden didn’t elaborate on where the money came from, how he got the amount, or what steps he thinks are sufficient to “stop deforestation.” Bolsonaro apparently responded at the time by threatening a military attack on the United States.
