Newspaper: The British government criticized Prince Charles for comments on immigrants

According to the Sunday Times, Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, has been criticized by members of the government for criticizing the deportation of illegal immigrants to Rwanda.

The newspaper reported that London was about to start sending illegal immigrants to British soil from 14 June to the African country, where their asylum applications would be reviewed in the UK. On 10 June the British High Court refused to block the British government’s initiative.

The “Times” previously wrote that Prince Charles, 73, had opposed the proposal on more than one occasion in private telephone conversations and was reported to be “deeply disappointed”.

In this regard, the press office of the prince’s presidential residence issued a special statement confirming that if Prince Charles becomes king of the country, he will not violate the king’s long tradition of political neutrality and will remain “politically neutral”. . However, this explanation did not satisfy the prince’s critics.

According to the Sunday Times, a senior British cabinet member, who asked not to be named, said: “Prince Charles is an adornment of our social life, but he wouldn’t be a magician if he tried to act. Also, when he became king. He will raise serious constitutional questions. ”

He added: “Many of his insights into architecture and gardening are interesting and it is always a pleasure to listen to them on a private phone. But this is very different from his public statements as a king. The Queen’s genius is that you have an idea of what anyone is thinking. ”

Another Cabinet source added: “Her mother is up to the gold standard and will have to live up to that standard when the time comes. And if such interference was allowed when he was Prince of Wales, then he would not be king. ”

Another British minister added: “The problem with Charles is that he thinks it should be fun and people care what he thinks. He doesn’t seem to understand his role. ”
