Pope Francis condemns ‘Luciferian, demonic violence’ hitting Ukraine

ROME — Pope Francis on Thursday again condemned the war in Ukraine, calling the aggression “Luciferian” and “diabolical”.

In his speech to members of the Association of Charities for the Eastern Churches (ROACO), the Pope insisted that the war reenacted the “drama of Cain and Abel”, drawing attention to “the beloved and oppressed Ukraine”.

The Ukrainian people were subjected to “life-destroying violence,” the Pope said, “Luciferian, demonic violence,” where believers are called upon by the power of prayer and the tangible help of mercy.

Christians should use all means at their disposal for “weapons to facilitate negotiations,” Francis continued, and also thanked the Church and the Pope for those who contributed to show concern for the Ukrainian people, the Church and the Pope.

“We know by faith that man’s pride and idolatry will be humbled, and valleys of desolation and tears will be filled,” he said, but at the same time, we want the imminent fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy of peace. now he raised his hand to the other, and swords became plowshares.

“Not yet,” said the Pope. Instead, “everything seems the other way around: the food is running low and the guns are louder,” he added, mirroring Cain’s attack on his brother.

That’s why let’s keep praying, fasting, helping, working, so that the means of peace find a place in the jungle of conflicts.”
