A report prepared by the Russian newspaper Kommersant said that “Russia’s agricultural sector is facing difficulties in light of Western sanctions imposed on Moscow that will affect grain exports from Russia,” noting that “Russian farmers are facing a shortage of agricultural supplies. Spare parts for foreign equipment, the share of which reaches 30% -40% of the entire fleet,” he said, noting that “European sanctions directly prevent the export of some spare parts to Russia.”

A survey conducted by a newspaper for the agro-industrial complex showed difficulties in servicing foreign agricultural equipment due to a lack of spare parts. The newspaper cites a source in the vast agro-industrial complex that prices for spare parts have risen by 50-100% from pre-crisis levels, and there are also problems with the availability of spare parts for foreign equipment.

Experts fear the impact of this on the Russian agricultural sector, including the grain harvest, especially since Russia is the largest exporter of wheat in the world, and after Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed sanctions against Russia that affected various sectors of the economy, as well as companies and individuals.
