The Chinese military says a recent US Navy flight over the Taiwan Strait has destabilized the region and jeopardized peace and stability.
Col. Xi Yi, spokesman for the Chinese Army Eastern Command, said in a statement that China strongly opposes US actions and that its forces are on high alert.
China, meanwhile, has hired a third aircraft carrier, a move that could be described as a major breakthrough in modernizing China’s military and turning China into a giant global naval power.
China’s third aircraft carrier, Fujian, named after the province of the same name, joins two other aircraft carriers that have already entered service, Liaoning and Shandong, which were launched in late 2019.
According to CCTV, China launched the new aircraft carrier at a landing ceremony at the Shanghai Shipyard.
