Canadian police said a man died and three injured people were taken to hospital early Sunday morning in Montreal after a 26-year-old man hit them with a sharp object.

Police in Canada’s second-largest city said they responded to an emergency call at 06:50 (1050 GMT) about a man in crisis in a downtown Montreal apartment and noted that “the suspect stabbed his mother and her husband. sharp object. The 72-year-old stepfather died on the spot, three victims were taken to the hospital, one of them is still in critical condition. Police said the suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

Canada has recently seen a rise in violent attacks and massacres, which have left 43 people dead and 38 injured since 2017.
