“We are provoking”… the president of Belarus accused Ukraine!

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Saturday that his military had intercepted missiles fired at Belarus from Ukraine, amid speculation of Minsk’s growing involvement in the conflict between Kyiv and Moscow.

Lukashenko said: “We are being provoked… I have to inform you that three days ago, maybe more, from Ukraine tried to target military targets in Belarus. Thank God, all the missiles fired by the systems Pantsir’s anti-aircraft was intercepted.” According to the official news agency Belta, Ukrainian forces.

He added: “I repeat to you, as I said more than a year ago, we have no intention of going to war in Ukraine.”

Russia’s ally Belarus has served as a rear base for Russian forces since the Kremlin launched its invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

Russian forces had moved out of Belarus in an attempt to take control of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and retreated in late March in the face of Ukrainian resistance.

Lukashenko’s regime, which is under severe Western sanctions, is heavily dependent on Russia both militarily and economically.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow would deliver nuclear-capable Iskander-M missiles to Belarus “in the coming months.”
