The President of Angola, João Lourenço, expressed his condolences this Saturday to the Emperor and Prime Minister of Japanfor the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abeshot dead on Friday in the Japanese city of Nara.
In a message released to the media by the Angolan presidency, João Lourenço expressed “feelings of regret for the tragic death” of the former ruler to Emperor Naruhito and the current Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida.

He also recalled that Shinzo Abe “carried out his duties with recognized dynamism, energy, zeal and dedication and always with a sense of duty”, in addition to having shown “special attention to issues related to the African continent and, in particular, cooperation with the Republic of Angola”.
The assassination of Shinzo Abe occurred on the same day as the former President of Angola, Jose Eduardo dos Santos79 years old, in a clinic in Barcelona (Spain), which led the Angolan government to decree seven days of national mourning and to declare that it intends to hold a state funeral in Luanda.

Shinzo Abe was fatally shot twice while speaking at a street rally by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) near Nara railway station on Friday.
The politician was still transported to the hospital, but already in cardiorespiratory arrest, and death was confirmed about five hours later.
Tetsuya Yamagami, the suspect in the attackwho allegedly used a homemade weapon, was immobilized by Abe’s security services and taken away by the police, who subsequently searched his home and found other similar weapons also made by the alleged perpetrator.
