Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro accused on Monday the person in charge of the country’s electoral process of having called himself “dictator of Brazil.”
EITHER [Edson] Fachin said that he no longer has conversations with the Armed Forces. I think he already called himself the dictator of Brazil. Anyone who acts in this way has no commitment to democracy,” said Bolsonaro, who has constantly insisted that the Armed Forces collaborate in the transparency commission in charge of monitoring the electoral process for the presidential elections in October.
Quoted in the newspaper Poder 360, the Brazilian president accused: “I make it very clear, Fachin was the one who got Lula out of jail“.
Addressing his followers, Bolsonaro also stressed: “now is a difficult time because the enemy is not external, it is inside Brazil, it is here in this region of Praça dos Três Poderes”.
Bolsonaro has been at open war for several months with the TSE and more precisely with its president, Edson Fachin.
In recent months, in addition to insisting that the country’s electronic voting system is unreliable, Bolsonaro has intensified attacks against magistrates of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), saying that will not respect certain judicial decisions and has repeatedly requested the participation of the military in the vote count.
In recent months, there has been a growth in the voices of analysts, institutions and organizations seeking to draw attention to the fact that Jair Bolsonaro is turn on the support base and create bases for “an invasion of the Capitol”, as happened in the United States.
These statements come 84 days before the presidential elections in Brazil, for which the favorite is Lula da Silva, with an advantage of between 15 and 20 points over Bolsonaro, according to the latest polls.
