The withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine and their punishment is “inevitable”, the Ukrainian president said on Monday through a publication on Telegram.
Volodymyr Zelensky’s statements come after Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov announced that he is being gathered and armed an army of a million Ukrainians to regain control of the Kherson region, where the Armed Forces are preparing a counteroffensive.
In an interview with the Times, Reznikov revealed that the order was given directly by the president, with the aim of reclaiming occupied coastal areas that are vital to the Ukrainian economy.
In the Telegram post, Zelensky also highlighted the importance of continuing to work on all fronts –political, economic, informative– “without showing weakness”.
“We can only resist this war together, absolutely everyone, every Ukrainian man, every Ukrainian woman,” he said.
