A U.S. Defense Department spokesman dismissed Russia’s claim that the attack in Vinnitsa, which Kyiv said killed 23 people, including children, was aimed at a meeting of the Ukrainian Air Force in that city away from the front lines.

“I have no indication that there is a military target nearby,” he said, according to Agence France-Presse, adding: “It looks like a building,” stressing that Moscow launched its attack on Thursday using a missile fired from Submarine.

Calculating the Vinnytsia attack, he said Russian strikes had killed between 100 and 150 Ukrainian civilians over the past two weeks, based on publicly available information.

The latest data on the attack in Venice indicate 23 dead, 29 missing and dozens injured.

Earlier on Friday, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that rockets were fired from the sea at the “house of officers” in Vinnitsa during a meeting “of the Ukrainian Air Force command with representatives of Western arms suppliers.”
