The Emirates News Agency announced on Thursday, July 14, 2022 that the President of the UAE, Mohammed bin Zayed, will visit the “friendly” Republic of France on Monday, the 18th of this month, in his first foreign trip as the President of the UAE. Emirates after taking office last May.
Sheikh Mohammed will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron and discuss joint work on “future energy, climate change and advanced technology” and efforts to strengthen security and stability in the region, the official Emirates News Agency announced on Thursday.
According to the official news agency, the meeting will also discuss “strengthening cooperation in the educational, cultural and spatial sectors with regard to the comprehensive strategic partnership that brings the UAE and France together.”
Last year, during Macron’s visit to this Persian Gulf country, the two countries signed a series of major contracts, including a $19 billion arms deal.
“We continue to strengthen the country’s position as a reliable supplier of energy and a supporter of global energy security, because this country is the backbone of the possibility of global economic growth and development,” Sheikh Mohammed said in the speech.
Last June, France said it was holding “negotiations” with Abu Dhabi to find alternatives to Russian oil, which faces embargoes and Western sanctions.
However, the UAE confirmed that the country’s oil production is “close” to the OPEC+ target with Russia and also renewed its commitment to the deal.
