Fires continue to ravage Europe and the Italian peninsula is no exception. The city of Trieste is experiencing the most complicated situation, with threats of power outages.
The electricity supply in some areas of Trieste may soon be interrupted. This will have consequences for the water supply,” said the city’s mayor, Roberto Dipiazza, quoted by the Italian press, who advised residents not to use the elevators.
In Padriciano, a small town belonging to Triste, the electricity supply was cut off and, as a precautionary measure, some Slovenian regions are adopting the same measure.
The flames continue to burn with intensity and the territories of Monfalcone, Sagrado, Savogna, Staranzano and Duino Aurisina look unbreathable, with municipalities recommending their neighbors to wear masks. Around 1:00 p.m. local time, the town of Doberdò, which has about 200 inhabitants, had to be evacuated.
In the Slovenian part, four villages have been evacuated and are in considerable danger. According to STA, all Slovenian rescue forces in the area were called in and reinforcements were requested from other parts of the region and the country. The situation continues to be complicated by the “wind that changed direction”.
