A few hours after meeting the two candidates who will compete for the leadership of the Conservative Party, Boris Johnson said goodbye to Parliament on Wednesday. And, as always, with a touch of joke. “Hasta la vista, baby,” fired the prime minister who will be replaced in the fall.
“I want to use the last few seconds to give some advice to my successor.
Number one: stay close to the Americans. Defend the Ukrainians. Defend freedom and democracy…
Remember above all: It’s not Twitter that counts…
Hasta la vista baby!”– Boris Johnson pic.twitter.com/jo6DoX6WEJ

Applauded by Conservative MPs, Boris also left a number of pieces of advice to his successor, or successor: in the run-up to the latest round of MP voting are Liz Truss, Rishi Sunak and Penny Mordaunt. “First, stay close to the Americans, stand up for the Ukrainians, stand up for freedom and democracy everywhere,” he said.
Conservative Party. Truss, Sunak and Mordaunt are in the lead race. Who has more opportunities?
And the tax cut was another of the warnings made. This comment, in fact, goes against the words of Rishi Sunak, head of the Finance portfolio during his government and one of the first ministers to resign. Sunak argues that the reduction in the tax burden will only translate into higher prices and, therefore, that is not one of his banners in the candidacy to succeed Boris.
“Focus on what’s in front of you on the road, but remember to look in the rearview mirror,” he advised. And he added: “It’s not Twitter that counts, it’s the people who chose us.”
In his farewell speech, Boris also made reference to the Conservative majority he had achieved, the largest in 40 years. “Mission Completely Accomplished.”
