Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz revealed that a battery of S-300 missiles was fired at Israeli Air Force planes in Syria last May.
During a television interview, Gantz said that the rocket was launched only once, adding: “When the rocket was launched, the Israeli planes were moving away from the area.”
Pointing out that these missiles were not a threat to Israeli fighters, he pointed out that the situation in the region is stable now.
Gantz did not provide further details about the incident.
The disclosure of this incident took place while the tension between Israel and Russia arose due to Tel Aviv’s condemnation of Russia’s military operations in Ukraine and Moscow’s missile actions against the activities of the Jewish Agency in Russia.
It is worth mentioning that there is an agreement between Israel and Russia for military coordination in Syria to avoid friction between the two armies.
