Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu pointed out that “Iraq cannot expel terrorists from its lands, and therefore we are doing this”, given that “we respect the territorial integrity of Iraq”, and considered that “the government of Iraq cannot effectively fight against terrorist organizations.” This is the reason for the provocations against us.” He stressed that “terrorist organizations are still in Iraq, and the ISIS terrorist organization has taken control of part of the country, and with our support, it is no longer strong either in Syria or in Iraq.”
Cavusoglu explained that “the expected Turkish military operation is aimed at expelling terrorists from northern Syria and has the political goal of preserving the territorial integrity of Syria” and stated that “the US is not sincere in the fight against terrorism. “
The Turkish Foreign Minister stressed: “We will continue to play an active role in mediation between Russia and Ukraine, eventually this war will end at the diplomatic table,” and added: “We will do our best to bring the parties back to this table, but this task not easy.”
