In a joint statement, the Cape Verde Ministry of Health and the US Embassy in Praia said the batch of vaccine arrived in Cape Verde on July 24, donated through the US Agency for the International Development (USAID), in collaboration with the Covax mechanism. .

This is the sixth donation of vaccines against covid-19 from the United States to Cape Verdebeing the first in October 2021 (100,100 doses from Moderna), the second, third and fourth donations in December 2021 (64,350, 70,200 and 65,520 doses from Pfizer respectively) and the fifth in March 2022 (100,620 doses from Pfizer).
