The Gebshit Municipality organized a sit-in to protest the state’s failure to contact the UAE authorities to reveal the fate of Gebchit Municipal Council member Hussain Ali Nahal and his son Mohammed, and their quick release, who were arrested on June 10 at Dubai Airport by Emirates authorities . Until now, neither their fate nor the reasons for their arrest are known.

The sit-in was attended by the Nahal family and the townspeople, who raised banners, some of which read: “His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Muhammad Al Nahyan: We demand the release of detainees Hussein and Muhammad Nahal” and “We demand that our generous state take action to release of our two sons”, and “Where is immunity, O State of Lebanon?” Excellent, where are the presidents from our cause, where is the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Jebshit Mayor Muhammad Fahs indicated that “Hussein and his son Mohammed are still under investigation in the UAE and there is no other information about them,” noting that “Hussein has been in the trade for 30 years and he has a visa to that effect.” hoping that the President of the UAE will intervene in this matter, return them to their families and allow Hussein to resume his business as usual.

Fahs believed: “The position of solidarity is a pause to ask the Lebanese state to intervene in this matter”, calling on “the UAE, which we know their humanitarian flair and national patriotic orientation, and who cares about the people, to allow our son to return to his family”, and thanked “all the efforts that are being made in this direction. Especially what Major General Abbas Ibrahim is doing, who has taken this issue seriously and is following it.
