The Taiwan Foreign Ministry reported that a delegation from Lithuania headed by Lithuanian Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Agni Vaisukevichiuto arrived in Taiwan on a five-day visit.
Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry’s official account in a social media statement said, “We warmly welcome Agni Vaisukevicito and her delegation, and hope that Lithuania’s Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications will make a fruitful five-day visit to enhance strategic cooperation and business relations in advanced sectors.”
The central news agency Al Jazeera (CNA) has previously reported that during the visit the Lithuanian delegation will meet, in particular, with representatives of the Ministry of Transport.
It is reported that relations between Lithuania and China escalated after the opening of the official representation of Taiwan in Vilnius (the capital of Lithuania). The Chinese Foreign Ministry protested to Lithuania. Subsequently, China unilaterally downgraded diplomatic relations with Vilnius to the level of chargé d’affaires.
