The UN said that they “expect a significant increase in applications for the transportation of Ukrainian grain after the agreement of Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN on these transfers.”

The UN Coordinator at the Black Sea Initiative Joint Coordinating Center in Istanbul, Frederic Kenny, said that “the center allowed 12 ships carrying more than 370,000 tons of grain and other food supplies to leave Ukrainian ports.”

“We have developed detailed procedures for the courts participating in the initiative. These procedures were disseminated to the shipping industry earlier this week,” Kenny explained at a press conference, adding that “the center has already published humanitarian advice and has also developed a full-fledged corridor for ships from Istanbul to Ukraine ports to ensure safe passage.

The UN official expressed his “appreciation for the cooperation and commitment of all parties involved – Ukraine, Turkey and Russia – to the implementation of the initiative to ensure the export of grain from Ukraine.”
