At least one person died and 40 were injured early Saturday morning after a storm destroyed several infrastructures at a festival in Valencia, Spain. You strong winds demolished the entrance to the venue, parts of the main stage and some structures mounted in the Spanish city.
Three of the injured are in a very serious condition and 14 with minor injuries, according to the emergency institute equivalent to the Spanish INEM. The fatal victim is a 22-year-old man. who was hit by an object that flew off the main stage of the Medusa Festival on Cullera beach.
The Spanish Institute of Meteorology (AEMET) confirmed during the morning that there were very intense winds in Valencia and a sudden rise in temperature. A sensor installed at the Alicante-Elche Airport (which also serves the southern part of the Valencian Community) detected a gust of wind of the order of 82 km/h at three in the morningleast one hour in Lisbon. The temperature at that time was 40.5°C.
