TAP’s Executive Committee “regrets and repudiates the constant attempt to undermine its credibility and competence”, even referring to “judgments of intentions and the increasingly frequent presentation of loose “factoids”, deliberately decontextualized, distorted and even , in some cases, completely false, with which some unions constantly bombard the media”.
The TAP statement was issued on the day that three unions in the aviation sector will hold a “silent march” to “continue to draw everyone’s attention” to the situation in the airline.
TAP begins by underlining that “it is very aware of the effort required of all the Company’s workers, specifically with the 25% reduction in the value of salaries over 1,410 euros”. And that, “without this effort, it would not have been possible to obtain authorization from the European Commission for the restructuring plan that allowed TAP to survive.” But he also recalls the effort requested from “all Portuguese taxpayers and the Portuguese State” (with support of 2,500 million euros).
The statement affirms that the unions are “very aware of this fact”, highlighting the responsible way in which they acted to defend positions and jobs when negotiating with TAP “the aforementioned salary reductions, thus assuming a commitment that produces its effects until 2025 , the year from which, following the restructuring plan, TAP will finally be able to recover wages in full”.
