Democrat Tim Ryan Backs China’s TikTok Despite House Administration Warning

Democratic Congressman and Ohio State Senate candidate Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) continues to ask his voters to follow him on communist China’s TikTok, despite the House of Representatives General Administration’s security warnings and encouragement of “hard measures against China.” Message in the Ohio State Senate campaign.

Running for the Senate against Representative Republican JD Vance, Ryan was an early supporter of TikTok in the House of Representatives and has one of the biggest followers of any Congressman. Despite the security warnings, he continues to advertise his account to voters on his official Congressional Twitter account.

By politicsOn Tuesday, the House of Representatives General Administration sent a two-page memo to House staff warning against downloading or using TikTok due to security and privacy concerns.

The memo warned members of Congress against downloading the app and highlighted the publicly stated data collection policy.

TikTok’s policy states that it automatically collects information about users’ devices, including location data based on your SIM card, IP addresses, and GPS, your use of TikTok itself, and any content you create or upload, and data you send in its app. messages, metadata from your downloaded content, cookies, app and file names on your device, battery status, and even your keystroke pattern and rhythm, among other things.

Ryan continues to use and promote TikTok in his official government account, while delivering a tough message to China in his Ohio Senate campaign.

“China is tearing us apart left and right and now is the time to fight,” the rep said. Ryan is in an ad.

While the Ohio congressman continues to support TikTok, the anti-China ad is the first campaign TV spot to feature Ryan’s stance on China as the main subject of the Senate study.
