The head of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, stated that “after the signing of the nuclear agreement during the previous administration (2015), former US President Donald Trump failed in his obligations and increased the embargo measures against Iran, ignoring the decision signed by the United Nations.”
In a statement released by Iran’s Fars News Agency, he pointed out that “America practices arrogance and intimidation, and if we don’t stand in the face of this country, they won’t stop either, so we must strengthen our capabilities.” in this regard”, noting that “today in an economic war”. The first and most important law passed by the Islamic Consultative Assembly was the law to lift the ban because we believe in ending this unjust war.”
Qalibaf emphasized: “If they do not fulfill their obligations (the other parties to the nuclear agreement), we do not need to fulfill their obligations in the nuclear field, so we will not deal with the nuclear issue, except under safeguards, if they do not fulfill their obligations.”
He pointed out that “when they seek to continue unfair sanctions, why don’t we act in accordance with our legal right within the International Atomic Energy Agency”, emphasizing that “if they give way to addressing the problems of the past, everything will be fixed.”
Qalibaf stressed that “the problems of the country will be reduced by lifting the sanctions, but they will not be solved”, stressing that “we must strengthen ourselves in the economic sphere in order to lift the embargo, and in this regard, on the shoulders of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the government.”
