The GNR arrested a 46-year-old man in Vila do Conde, Porto district, subject to an international arrest warrant, issued by Spain, to serve a 9-year prison sentence for economic crimes.
According to information from the military, the operation was carried out by the Porto Territorial Command, through the Matosinhos Criminal Investigation Center (NIC), on August 11, and had the support of the Vila do Conde Territorial Post.
As a result of a complaint, soldiers of the Guard carried out several police proceedings that allowed them to locate and arrest the suspect who was pending an international arrest warrant issued by the Kingdom of Spain, to serve a sentence of nine years in prison for crimes of economic nature”, the GNR reported today in a statement.
Also in the same note, the military reported that the detainee remained in the Guarda facilities and was present, on August 12, at the Court of Appeals of Porto.
