Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi said in a social media statement that “the agency’s mission will travel to and arrive at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant this week”, noting that “we must ensure greater safety and security.” Nuclear facilities in Ukraine and Europe, and I am proud to be leading this expedition, which will arrive at the plant later this week.”

And the New York Times said: “The mission will include 14 people, most of them from neutral countries, including the head of the Argentine agency, Rafael Mariano Grossi, and will not include a single representative of the United States and Great Britain.”

French President Emmanuel Macron said his country had received security guarantees from Russia and Ukraine from the International Atomic Energy Agency, allowing it to send an agency mission to the station. Prior to that, Macron spoke to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, and the two presidents agreed on the importance of an early mission visit to the station.
