The Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that “Foreign Minister Fuad Hussain visited Iran, during which he met with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and gave him an oral message from Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi, and bilateral relations between Baghdad were discussed and Tehran, the security and political situation in Baghdad, and the development of the regional and international situation and its impact on the security and stability of Iraq and the region.
Hussein reaffirmed that “Iraq’s desire to expand the means of bilateral cooperation with Tehran in various fields”, stressing “the importance of concerted efforts at the regional and international levels to counter extremism, end conflicts, build bridges of trust and cooperation among countries surrounding Iraq.” including the language of dialogue, and prioritize Iran” to create a secure and stable environment. He stressed that “Iraq’s stability is also important for neighboring Iran.”
The ministry said: “The Foreign Minister met with Iranian National Security Adviser Ali Shamkhani and pointed out the importance of working together to strengthen security and stability in the region and rely on everything that will reduce tensions to achieve the concept of collective security. He also mentioned, that Iraq continues to face various challenges, including security issues and the fight against terrorism, and that any action that is detrimental to the security and stability of Iraq will complicate the situation within Iraq and its regional environment.
