Grand Mufti of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Serbia Mustafa Josef Spahic confirmed that “there is no misunderstanding, aggression and enmity between Serbian sects, regardless of the desire of some countries”, noting that “we are a multi-ethnic-confessional country in which people of different nationalities live. We respect and care about the religious feelings of our citizens.”

He pointed out to the Novosti agency that “it is useful for some countries and their politicians to present Serbia with alleged facts of confrontation between religions,” and added: “But this is not at all the case. representative and head of the Muslim community in Serbia, a member of the public chamber on the side of an Orthodox religious figure. Every week on television we are given time to show programs on Islamic topics, there are other projects, including interfaith forums, and it is important for all citizens of Serbia to preserve peace and prosperity of our country.”

The mufti also noted that “the Russian experience of peace and intercommunal harmony is very important for Serbia.”
