Yemeni Minister of Information and Culture Muammar al-Eryani accused the Ansar Allah (Houthi) group of escalating and disavowing the Hodeidah agreement reached by the government and the group in late 2018 by organizing a military parade in the city of Hodeidah in West Yemen, warning that it threatened sabotage of the truce.

In a statement, he pointed out that “the demonstration by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia (Iranian-made) of mines and naval missiles of various models at the show it held in the city of Hodeidah reflects the danger posed by the continued control of this militia. for the safety of commercial ships and oil tankers on international shipping lines in the Red Sea and Bab el Mandab.

Al-Eryani explained that “Al-Houthi’s blatant brandishing of naval mines and missiles constitutes a blatant defiance of international laws prohibiting their possession and confirms the continued flow of Iranian weapons and experts through the ports of Hodeidah, as well as Tehran’s use of the Houthis as a tool to threaten global trade. , energy security, security and regional and international peace”.

The Yemeni government’s position comes a day after Ansar Allah organized a major military parade in the city of Hodeidah, which the United Nations mission to support the Hodeidah Agreement deemed a “violation of the agreement”, calling on Ansar Allah “to fully comply with its obligations under agreement, especially with regard to the prevention of military appearances in the city.
