Pavilion of Portuguese-Speaking Countries Debuts at Macao Tourism Industry Exhibition

The Portuguese-speaking countries will have, for the first time, a Lusofonia pavilion at the Macao International Tourism (Industry) Exhibition, which will be held between the 23rd and 25th of this month, it was announced on Friday.

The goal is to showcase “cultural diversity” and play the region’s role as a “platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries,” according to a statement from the Tourism Services Directorate.

In the pavilion are present “communities from different Portuguese-speaking countries residing in Macao, who will bring handicrafts, shows with music and dance, and gastronomy characteristic of these countries,” he said.

At the same time, the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) also organizes the participation of local representatives of food products from Lusophone countries and companies from Macauwhile the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-Speaking Countries (Macao) will once again be present at this event, with a session to present the tourism products of the Portuguese-speaking countries.

In addition to investing in “business opportunities online and in person”, the exhibition will include more than 20 “live cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs” from Chengdu, Shunde, Yangzhou, Huai’an, which, like Macau, are part of the Creative Cities network of UNESCO Gastronomy, according to the same note.

Another debut will be the participation of the Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone in Hengqin (Mountain Island) to expand “Hengqin-Macao tourism cooperation” and introduce “tourism planning and related infrastructure development” in that area. .

The program envisages holding a “2022 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Tourism Development High-level Forum” to discuss how to “seize the development opportunities of the Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone in Hengqin , integrate the cultural and tourism advantages of Hengqin and Macao, and promote Macao’s development as a world center for tourism and entertainment,” he added.

On the 10th anniversary of this exhibition, the Beijing Palace Museum will also participate for the first time, with “more than a hundred characteristic cultural and creative products, namely the ‘A panorama of rivers and mountains’ series” and will invite “experts in restoration of old buildings” for on-site demonstrations.

During the event, it will be highlighted Macau as a “wedding tourism” destination to develop the “wedding celebration economy”with the participation of more than ten wedding celebration companies from China and Macao, according to the statement.
