New leader of the Conservatives announced at 12:30 p.m.
Good day.
The Conservative Party is half an hour away from announcing its new leader and, by implication, the new UK Prime Minister who will succeed Boris Johnson.
Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak are candidates in an internal selection process in which activists conservative they voted by letter for who they want to direct the destinies of the country. Truss, the former chancellor, is the heavy favorite according to the polls.
The result will be announced at 12:30, followed by a speech from the winner. The hearings for Boris Johnson and after the winner with the Queen will not take place until tomorrow Tuesday.
The Observer will monitor this entire process. Stay with us.
