Acting Head of the United Nations Mission of Support in Libya Yazdun Zeninga again called for the early holding of parliamentary and presidential elections to resolve the political crisis in Libya.

In his statement, he stressed that “there is no military solution”, stressing that “the United Nations is prioritizing working with all Libyan parties to help reach an agreement on holding national elections as soon as possible.”

Zeninga pointed out that “the Libyan people have made clear their desire to elect their leaders and restore the legitimacy of Libyan institutions through democratic elections”, noting that “a delegation from the city of Misurata visited his headquarters on Tuesday to present their ideas on ways to resolve the political crisis in country.”

The political crisis in Libya is exacerbated by disagreements between the two governments, the first of which is headed by Fathi Bashaga; It won the confidence of the Libyan House of Representatives in March last year, and the second is the government of national unity, established on the basis of political agreements sponsored by the United Nations more than a year ago, and headed by Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba. who refuses to transfer power, except through presidential elections, parliamentary; And this despite the expiration of his term of office.
