German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised during a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to provide additional military support to Ukraine, noting that “Germany will not hesitate to support Ukraine militarily, politically, financially and humanitarianly.” He also noted that he “also exchanged views with Zelensky on providing more tangible support, including in the restoration of Ukraine.”

In turn, Zelensky praised “the new financial assistance provided by the European Union to his country, which is estimated at five billion euros,” and explained that “the conversation with Schultz concerned possible additional military assistance to Ukraine.”

Regarding the situation at the Zaporozhye NPP, the parties stated that they agreed on the critical importance of plant safety and protection and noted the important role of the IAEA report and the measures recommended in the IAEA report.

Significantly, Germany, the European Union and the United States have provided Ukraine with billions of dollars of military and economic aid to help it resist the Russian military operation against it.
